January 12, 2010 - McDormand, Tierney sail ‘North Atlantic’

Frances McDormand and Maura Tierney will appear in the latest incarnation of the Wooster Group’s “North Atlantic,” which will have runs in Los Angeles and Gotham this spring. McDormand, who previously appeared in the venerable downtown theater troupe’s “To You, the Birdie! (Phedre),” and Tierney will star alongside Wooster Group regulars including Kate Valk, Ari Fliakos, Scott Shepherd and Koosil-ja Hwang, among other thesps.
Production is the latest staging of a 1983 outing that was last seen in New York in 2000. With text by James Strahs, show follows a peacekeeping force on an aircraft carrier in the North Atlantic, late in the Cold War era.
With the bicoastal stints of “North Atlantic,” Wooster Group kicks off two residencies: one for four years at L.A.’s REDCAT, where the show runs Feb. 10-21, and one for three years at the Baryshnikov Arts Center’s Jerome Robbins Theater, the Gotham venue where the production will play March 10-April 25.

January 12, 2010 - Maura Tierney returns to work

Maura Tierney will return to work next month. After dropping out of upcoming NBC drama Parenthood while she underwent breast cancer treatment, Tierney, 44, is well enough to star in the play North Atlantic, reports TV Guide. She will make her Los Angeles debut on Feb. 10 and her New York debut on March 10.
A rep for Tierney declined to comment on her treatment, but Parenthood executive producer Jason Katims said yesterday at the Television Critics Association panel that the star is “doing really good,” he said. “She’s in treatment, and I spoke to her a few weeks ago. And she’s doing good.”

Maura Tierney, who left TV’s Parenthood after having surgery to remove a breast tumour, may be well enough next year to return to her other show, Rescue Me. Executive producer Peter Tolan told People magazine he was making plans to bring Tierney (ER) back for the seventh season, with episodes being shot in spring 2010.

Maura Tierney has dropped out of NBC’s Parenthood, TVGuide.com has
confirmed.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Tierney said that the actress’
breast-cancer treatments would conflict with the show’s production schedule.
“She is deeply disappointed that she will not be able to rejoin such a
highly respected, talented, fun and funny group of actors and wishes to
thank Jason Katims and NBC for their patience and support.”
In its own statement, NBC said, “While we are saddened that Maura Tierney
won’t be able to continue in her current role in Parenthood, our main
concern is for her quick and full recovery. Our thoughts and best wishes are
with her.”
NBC will recast Tierney’s role, according to a source, and Parenthood is
still expected to premiere at midseason. Written and executive-produced by
Friday Night Lights’ Katims, the show is based on the 1989 Ron Howard film
about a dysfunctional extended family.
Tierney, 44, had surgery this summer to remove a tumor from her breast. NBC
had previously pushed Parenthood’s start date to midseason to accommodate
her recovery. The statement also said that Tierney’s doctors remain
confident that the outcome of her treatments will be positive.

According to TV Guide Rescue Me will end in 2011 and Maura might be in some of the final episodes.

If you’re bummed by the end date announcement, maybe this will cheer you up: Tolan also hinted that recent guest star Maura Tierney could turn up again in the show’s final episodes.
“We loved working with her — that was kind of a big deal to get her,” Tolan said. “She’s got Parenthood, but I think we have a deal where we can use her for four episodes. And since we have that deal, we will take advantage of it.”

I know I promised all the rescue me episodes awhile ago, but I had to leave town unexpectedly and since then have had a lot going on. I am working on getting all the episodes done. As they are done, they will be added to the gallery and media site. When they are all added, I will post it on here.

I just wanted to remind everyone that this is a fansite and I am not Maura and I have no way to contact her. Any emails you send to me will not be given to Maura, as I don’t know her or have any contact with her. I have been receiving a lot of supportive emails addressed to Maura and I think it’s great that people want to send such amazing emails to her, but they wont be given to her. Maybe I can set a page up on this site where fans can write their messages of support.
Also, I’m really behind on the newest episode of Rescue Me, but I promise screen captures and videos will be added either tonight or tomorrow for sure.
